Resonance.

Fyi, we went to see Resonance over the weekend. Its an a capella band containing this super good beatboxer and Audrey BAY! Yeap, thats right. Shameless promotion right there for someone else.

The only backdrop was the travel to Woodlands. BUT if the travel wasn't so long, you probably wouldn't be watching the above video. Enjoy.

Love and showing you the meaning of lonely,
Josh

LAWS1001 - 9:43AM

Its 9:43AM, I'm barely listening in my class.

I woke up this morning, 6:35AM. It was dark. I wanted to sleep. I had to wake up.

I used to wake up at 11:30AM.

Ah, coffee, my good friend, how you sustain me. I have Jesus, and then I have coffee.

Large flat white; you wake my brain up.

Caffeine, you give me a boost in the morning.

If I could make a Berocca Mochachino, I would.

Forgive the idiosyncracies, I'm really not awake.

My literary skills desert me..... and back to class to grab a few pithy "class participation points."

photo madness.

Ah, yet another week.
We celebrated the birthdays of two of our birthday girls recently, on a Friday night @ Laguna - seems that the recession is rubbing off quite badly on them. Mr yeo was kind enough to organise and PAY:
(ernie can't wait to get her hands on the cake)

(alas, josh was working)

Then, rehearsals for Paid in Full - just one and a half weeks away!
(transported back to a time when there was no colour)

(perfect shot! oh wait, who's the extra!)

(ah, not bad... but... perhaps less aggression?)

(aw come on guys, too little!)

Good stuff.

So that's all from me for now. Ah, daylight savings... we might need that if the weather here continues to be the way it is now!

(waiting in anticipation for the sensory assault as two feelers grow out of my head)

Daylight Savings Attack 2 - Australian Version

Three cheers for Yang! For living through the ordeal of daylight savings, you have now learned that 1 hour is very important.

As for us in Australia, WA, we have offically ended daylight savings FOREVER! Yes folks, forever! Indeed everyone was annoyed by this thing we know as daylight savings, especially me, having to get up 1 hour earlier. However, since it was over on the weekend, today, I woke up, as you have anticipated 1 hour earlier. Pretty dumb eh?

So, Alden wakes up, looks out the window, sees its still dark-ish. He checks the clock and what does he see? OH NO! Its 6.30am! Way too early to wake up. Its cold, its dark, its everything you don't like. So he goes back to sleep. *P.S today is "talk in 3rd person view day" for me*

Anyway folks, Singapore is good stuff, you don't get this sorta crap. Yay democracy?

Alden was here.

Daylight Saving Time Attacks!

Alas, i have finally fallen victim to daylight saving time, the practice of setting your clocks one hour ahead on one particular midnight. Singapore keeps you stowed away, safe from this practice which supposedly exploits the sunlight and adds an extra hour of work in the sunlight.

Woke up at 8am, made a peanut butter sandwich, knew i was gonna be on time for the 9am service at Kensington Temple. So i reached at 8.55am, ready for a great service. I step into the main hall, which was totally FULL and i see Rev Colin Dye on the stage, and the worship team missing. I glance at my watch, I glance at the ushers, uhh.. i'm supposed to be early. I'm sure there was a grin somewhere. 'Late' by an entire hour.

So, ended up staying on for the 11pm service. What a welcome to the world of daylight savings. It wasn't so bad, since a few others were afflicted too. Spread the love o daylight savers!

"Thanks" and other stories

Hey Nicky, Thanks for the neat book and the stuff. (My Camera especially, didn't notice it was gone. Oops.)

Looks like everyone is having fun back in See-ka-poh. See-ka-poh is basically Singapore, its an inside joke between my group of friends here, apparently someone heard wrongly and thought I was from an unknown land called See-Ka-Poh. Strange right?

Anyways, nothing much exciting has happened, besides the fact that I have to dodge some people stepping on my nice white shoes, which by the way aren't so white anymore. And photos won't be up for sometime, because my stupid phone ain't connecting to the dumb computer.

Alden was here.

Friday to Tuesday in 60 seconds

I think Josh and I have a new hobby: (姐,must upload the other photos)
(to improve fitness, i propose all singaporeans play chaptek! YES WE CAN!)

On Friday we had a family dinner for aunty anna, this was the last family supper for our boy, who's gonna become a MAN:
This was Saturday, after bs:
(dreaming of what? hmmmmmmmmmm wookie)

And this is Sunday lunch - i promised Divinia i'll put this up:

And Tuesday, sending ps chad off + BS dinner. We ate at T3 popeye's and then moved to.. you guessed it - T1 popeye's!

(migration in progress)

(sean had to make a pitstop)

(i just love more cholesterol and clogged arteries)

(the busy man checking his stocks on a portable device)

(sam, trying to see if holding a fry like a cigarette gives it a smoked flavour)

I think I had enough popeye's for a few months... OK maybe just a few weeks. The send-off:

Come back soon Ps Chad!

COLDPLAY!!

Title says it all.

It was an epic performance. Entertaining, beautiful and...well, everything. A purely awesome night of great music, lights, performing, and an electric atmosphere.

It was a great, great, great (ad infinitum) performance, and believe me, I wish I could go over and over again. There's a reason why theyre so famous, and Sydney saw it on Saturday night. Each member is incredible. They all play like... multiple instruments, all sing, and all do it REALLY well.

Epic. I think theyre coming to Singapore guys, you gotta go. Photos will never do this thing justice. Its like seeing...well... a photo of something, you just never know until you go. Nothing looks as good, nothing sounds as good, the electricity isnt in the air. I also took an awesome picture of the "sea of stars" (mobile phones), but I cant find it.... Tickets will be expensive, but DO IT. In-freaking-credible.

The photos dont cover the breath of the effects, the sets, the performance....gah...

Poto taking

Yes I had the awesome poto*photo* taking today....Before I proceed, let us give a moment to show our respect for Lincoln's bravery for entering THE army*not like he really has a choice...lolz*...

.................................................................................................

Ok, that time's over. As mention above, yes I had photo taking today but I did a funny face...whats worst was they said,"Ok, That's nice. You can go now..=)"and that means...OH NOES ITS GOING INTO YEAR BOOK <=O...well my fault...Oh and thanks for the CD's Cor-Nik/Ku-Nik/Ku-Niku/Cor-Cor-Nik/Cor-Cor-Niky/I still have more at teh BACK of my head...

Well I'm off...Cyaz

PANCAKE attack.

You've heard of panic attack, anxious attack but have you experienced pancake attack?
I have a fever. And the only cure is more pancakes.

Late last night, I was chatting to people when I saw pielets. Subsequently, I thought of pikelets. And then I thought of pancakes. The attacks came, short and fast like blows to the head. Hungry, I decided that this would not do, pancakes were calling out to the hungry aching soul. Scouring around for a partner in crime, I found a pancake buddy in Nick.

I order hotcakes (lies, pancakes) and he a big breakfast. Mine satisfied my cravings. Big breakfasts used to be bigger where we came from. We sat there sipping on coffee and tea, waiting for the apple pies to be made. Turns out new batches were in 7 minutes, they were all sold out before. So we chatted more, till I saw a glimpse of new apple pies and then proceeded to buy the last one.

The photo reflects the epic triumph of consumer over supplier. I love you pancakes and apple pie.

Hungry no more,
Josh

P.S. Nick forgot coupons, and we like left when the Cisco guy was just at the car next to us. Talk about timing! Phew.

Just so everyone knows - this is what we're missing! ARHHHH

http://www.mosaicmusicfestival.com/2009/microsite/hmc_mikestern.html

Looks are deceiving.

So I haven't posted anything in a while. The upload on this stupid thing uploads backwards. So here it goes. Dinner with Liang and Divinia at Foodrepublic @ Wisma. Looks here are deceiving because it says we had dinner, but there are no photos of food.

Dinner wasn't actually what I wanted to mention. For the first time in my 3 months of being in station, I found the inspiration to jog. Seriously. Previously it wasn't of my own accord, all those Fort Canning killer runs. Looks are deceiving because while it looks really cool, it was actually one of the most scorching days I've had. And guess what, when we went swimming the next day, the sun disappeared. AND today, one day AFTER the swim, the sun is back. Disgusting.

So looks are deceiving because while it seems like the pictures are complete, they actually were a LOT harder to do than it looks. Seriously. We did one a few nights ago, and then Euvin joined us for the second one. But kinda, joined Lyanna because I decided to take a 'cat nap' on the couch which turned out to be a GREAT nap of 2 hours (: sleep ftw.

o I leave with the thoughts that Mosaic is coming and I can't attend any good shows. Sigh, Mike Stern.

FREEDOM!!!!

MOM'S BACK IN SG!!!! Yes I know I'm being a tard by typing this but yeah. Just ''sharing'' my feelings with the fam. Things getting boring already, weather's still ablazing and Alden is still a-shivering...Dunno why though...ah well...Happy days, stressful weeks*not to me=)*and a silent house for a week....I BET, I JUST BET...my mum will nag at us for not keeping the house in 'Tip-Top Condition.' Oh and Cor-Yang...I like Billy Talent...wish I was there. Oh and Cor-Nik...Can I borrow ur Downhere and Compassionart? Please?

Soundwave + The Cat Empire

Okay, so this happened a couple of weeks back, but I never got around to posting it. I'm at uni now, and have about 10 minutes to spare (first day baaacckkk!!!), so I'll deal now.

SOUNDWAVE FESTIVAL

Awesomeness in a box, was held out at eastern creek raceway on Sunday the 28th...? or 29th..?.. anyway, it was 2 Sundays ago. Awesome lineup! Rocked hard, got knocked around. About 5 and a half hours of actual moshing and ear destruction. But it was awesome fun, with lots of great bands. Did some damage to my ears, which were ringing for 4 days. I'll make sure I use earplugs at least some of the time next time. 6 stages of rock awesome, great bands. Couldnt get everywhere I wanted, but I saw most of what I wanted to see. All of the bands, may I say, had mad chops.

So a blow by blow account;

Arrival ~11am
Got out to Eastern Creek at 11am. Was in the line for a whole hour. Think 20 000 people going through an entrance the length of 2 cars. Not pretty, and the whole affair smelt of wet dog. Picture really says it all.

Silverstein ~12:15pm
The first act was a Canadian band called Silverstein. They were really good. Like REALLY good. Also told off security for being a bunch of jerks. +1 for Silverstein. Awesome sound. Great mosh to start the day.

Evergreen Terrace ~1pm
Mad awesome straight-edge metal fun. Circle pit? Yes. Smash pit? Yes. Awesome? Yes. You just jump and headbang and run around in circles and.....ah it was just awesome.

Anberlin ~3pm
Best act of the day. And thats not just cause I was a die hard fan. They performed a bunch of jumpy quick songs, and executed them very well. Woohoooot. Really great crowd too, and...well, just an epic performance.

Finch ~4:30pm
The sloppiest of the bands I saw, but still awesome. Crowd went OFF. Having about 500 people around you screaming out he words with you feels awesome. The band only recently came out of hiatus, so it was a treat to see a band I thought had gone for good.

Funeral For a Friend ~5:30pm
Their last two albums SUCKED. But they decided to completely skip the bad songs and do their old awesome stuff, and the handful of good songs off their latest album. The lead singer singing "I just called to say I love you," was also hilarious.

Lacuna Coil ~6:15pm
Like their virtues or not, Lacuna coil ripped out a really good set. I watched this from a distance (not in the mosh like I was with the rest), and just listened. It was GOOD. At about this point night was beginning to come down. Also saw quite a few stoned people. Funny, but dont do drugs.

So about here the day sort of ended, for about 4-5 more hours we watched some acts on the main stage from a distance, which included Billy Talent, Alice in Chains and NIN. I wasnt really a fan of these bands, but heck, I paid to come. And they were pretty tight.

Few more photos...

Got home at maybe 1am that night. Incredible. My ears rang and rang and rang for like 4 days, until Thursday night.. (and now I segway into..)

THE CAT EMPIRE

At Wollongong uni hall. AWESOME... So lets go over this one, their support band was a band from Europe called "Paprika Balkanicus." They were great, just plain fun. well coordinated and hilarious. Great music they played too. They were a treat. But the real stars of course, were the Empire.

I've never seen percussion done so well. I've never seen... well anything like it, except the last time. It was a great great night. Fun and musically incredible. I cant say much more there.

A highlight was running into the band's keyboardist on the way home. We stopped at a servo and saw him! YEEHAW!

Coldplay coming up in a couple weeks time as well. I am psyched! Should be really good.

Thats all from me.
