Awesomeness - just got back from the benny greb clinic:

Without a doubt, the most enjoyable clinic i've been to thus far. He is such an entertainer, and that shows in his playing too.

the only quote i can remember properly:

"bass players, if you're so musical, why do you only have 4 strings?"

LOL.

He is really funny - just wish I could detail all the nonsense he did. made references to world cup as well! haha - talked about how his first recorded practice time felt a bit like soccer, that he kept on hoping that he would "get the ball" (practice the proper thing instead of getting distracted), but kept on losing it... and added very quietly "to spain".

HAHA.

all round nice guy too, even when signing autographs. definitely a welcome sight after the last concert we went to at nexus...

and some insightful stuff too - where you are now and where you will be is a result of millions of decisions you make. "if you practice tennis instead of drums, you will be better than me in tennis" - it all boils down to what you choose to use your time for.

So Stellar Memory finally launched their EP!

And Josh probably had the loudest fan group. Oh, Gabriel too!

Speaking of Gabriel - we watched Karate Kid - just a few of us since many were at the Calvary CD meeting and what not.

After that I headed to the IT Show! Caught some last minute bargains:

Just got home from 2.5 days of church retreat. great stuff! albeit too fast - it's probably closer to 2 days? Since we only reached after lunch on the first day, and were on the bus to SG about 4pm today.

Would have loved more time - there really honestly isn't much to see in Kukup and you probably would have a good idea of what the place is like in 2 days, but it was really fun to hang out with the church peeps. Board games, karaoke, food (more accurately, ice cream and bubble tea) hunting, mudskipper intimidation... It helps that the environment was really conducive as well.

Well, we kinda tried to pack things in i guess, so it probably wasn't as chill, but awesome nonetheless! i miss saboteur nights. Don't worry jay and abel, we'll have a real agricola match sometime!

first game in a long time - i know. We had family steamboat - with an extremely low cousins turnout. Just vene, alden, audrey and myself. haha!

it was weird not having virg around either :(

anyhow, the match was pretty interesting. alden looked like he had the upper hand till about mid-game. was able to take advantage of a few tactical errors, 44 - 27!

and oh yes, new cousin on the way!!! from aunty kat:

Holidays and The After-effects

One week has passed after the holidays...and its also the first week in which it seems the hardest to get up..considering that I have been in a Late Sleep-Late Wake cycle during the holidays..BUT that is entirely my fault and I take full Authority for it.

So...What did I do during my holidays?

Eat, Sleep, Play, And Family Time!
We also had a barbeque down by the beach with both cells..This is when I actually got to know the kids in my 2 cells *Yes we go to 2 cells, one on wed, one on friday*. The kids played by the beach and the adults....I actually have no idea what they did. We had a Awesome time, 3 of the kids, all 1 year younger then me, trying to push and pull me into the ocean, I won...Then we played cards, Bluff/Cheat *whatever you guys call it* in which I won...Then we played at the beach summore...then we went home..

So...What has happened during the week?
Monday, No school! Lucky me...this was when the barbeque happened.

Tuesday, Was a killer getting up, although I get up at 8 for school, I was getting up at 12 for the past 2 weeks.

Wednesday, We got to leave school EXTRA early because of some meeting the school had during the night, all the preps and stuff

Thurday, nothing interesting happened, except for dinner, with one of the cell group member's house *Divinia's cousins, Auntie Laura's sister* with Uncle Mark and Auntie Violet *Joel was working so...We didn't see him* and uncle Joe. Had an awesome time, played more cards, this time with PENALTY! *I didn't lose of course* Oh...And I got my leavers Jumper.

Friday, Today. First time I wore my leavers jumper to school..it is nice and comfy.
OK nevermind that...But the best part about it is, what I put on it

Yes people, a leavers jumper is a Hoodie that is only available to students doing their last year of high school *secondary+jc* and has a customised name for you, the name can be what you chose so I chose this remembering my dear loving family in Singapore...And of course because it means my name with a -ing behind

Well, quite a while back, the cousins (all who were available) surprised ernie-wernie with a cake. san san volunteered (so nice) to help me call ernie and preempt us as to whether she was home, and operation surprise began. unfortunately i called aunty jane and panicked when she nearly got ernie to the phone... but it still was a surprise for miss chang:

We watched big momma's house that night. mmmhmmm... just something nice about not worrying about the next day and enjoying some downtime with your cousins :)

Post-ORD Depression

The title says it all. There's a sense of miss when I can't walk into the station as one of them anymore. I felt so guilty, I actually went to apply for the SCDF Auxiliary Unit, but don't tell anyone yet. It's what I'll try and do if I have the time to commit.

Anyway, got a $20 NETS Flashpay Card (that says National Service in SCDF and has a cool logo) AND a Swatch Watch for Perfect Attendance. How's that for an ORD goodbye? Also, in the list of presents were cut fingers and a swollen left foot. I think sprains heal faster.

So life after NS begins. So they say, the real world. Sometimes it feels like I've never left. A lot of things that need to be done, daily running schedule (once the leg heals), daily EATING schedule, daily work, meeting up with friends, music projects both church and outside. In about two weeks, things'll kick into full swing and start to get hectic. Very sweet.

In the meantime, check out Sean Harrison's MySpace. He's a new guy I was introduced and asked to play guitar for. Very nice tunes, kinda like Jason Mraz, but in his own distinct way. Doesn't sound local.

Holidays And More

Wowzers...One term has passed..And quite a bit has happened. As you all know,(courtesy of Cornik tagging everyone ELSE except ME inside a certain post on facebook), I went for my school ball.

In case you are wondering, NO I did NOT have a partner, like the Year Co-ordinator said: Well Asher, If you bring no one, you are responsible for no one...except yourself of course.

So sorry that I do not have any photos, the camera came 1 day late and thus, shortage, reduced to stealing pictures off facebook. =D

Well, in other news:

I've been expecting the expected storm, unexpected results of there not being one although clouds are dark grey, and surrounding the whole area *Pretty much as far as I can see, and considering I currently live near the top of the hill, thats quite far* Just had abit of a drizzle here and there

Jie Vene is in Perth! Had dinner with her...twice, but hey, its still better then not meeting her at all. *She tried the duck*

We also went crabbing, but its not net crabbing though, this time, it was Scoop crabbing, where we went into the ocean with flashlights and crab scoops to catch crabs. Caught a few, and then we....
Let them back into the ocean because they were too small *Awwwww*
Oh well, at least we caught some..its the experience that counts.

Wart treatment is due in 12 hours, bracing myself once again for the not-so-pleasant experience.

Oh and I Don't Know if I've said this before: Thanks for letting me listen to downhere Cornik! Im still awed by them

Hola! que tal?

Solo travelling during school time is pretty cool. Europe II. Unfortunately, i seem to have lost my camera cable so i can't transfer my photos to my laptop at the moment. So Oxford - London - Seville - Cordoba - Granada - Ronda - Malaga. Kinda packed out scheduled, but the Spanish sunshine is a refreshing change from gloomy England. Will update more once i get back to Singapore, when i have to really start studying for my final exams. Looks like everyone is doing well? Anyway, sometimes i think i am dying from 2nd hand smoke in Spain, but most times, many other things make up for it. Plus my auto-focus button on my camera is spoilt, so its manual focus now. Bah. will update soon. take care everyone!

Ok many things have happened in the last 2 months, sorry for not bloggin or responding cos im still in the midst of things hahahaha...but as for the last few days, Perth *I mean the WHOLE Perth* has been chaotic, and hilarious at the same time.

Monday: Flash-Flooding and Hailstorm, Damage to Perth is severe, Hailstones sized up to tennis balls. We were not affected, Praise God for that. In fact, on the news, the roads and pavements seemed to have dandruff. Thats alot of hail.

Tuesday: Waited at the bus stop until 9.05(school starts at 9), went home but got fetched to school by Dad, tried persuading him that the flood had damaged the school so badly there was no school(I was lying until...)we went to school, and school had actually been damaged that badly that there wasn't school yesterday. Drove around Perth to snap photos

Today: Woke up at 7 to go to school to sort out things for the School Ball *Yes I am indeed going to a ball*, finally sorted out things after 2 weeks of grueling arguements amongst the Asian boys and girls. Had my all time "favourite" sports. Finally found out how to make a panorama picture (Windows LIVE photo gallery not Windows photo gallery). Uncle Joe is coming for Din-Dins in some time.

A lot of things have happened. But it seems like only Nick's been blogging actively. Haven't seen ANY action in Australia from Asher or JK. Pre-ORD Blues

It scares me that I'm almost finished with NS. You look back and poof, the last 2 years go by. It still feels like yesterday that I started, booking in and that first day are still fairly fresh.

I can still picture all the mistakes I made. My first turn-out alone, I ran furiously and didn't pace myself for a case of fumigation. Bringing a contractor's ladder around the station thinking it was part of our equipment. Mentally, physically challenging scenario drills. Mentally and physically challenging actual incidents.

Yet, given the chance, I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Okay guys - actually i have a lot of photos to put up but i think they're too much for one post. So let's start with the most recent and salient event - our dear cousin going into NS!

As usual, what is a send-off without a massive family dinner? Played around with my phone's panorama - guess need to work on getting everyone to STAY STILL. haha. Enjoy:

I had to rush to defu lane to join them right after my finance mid-term, but it was totally worth it, even though they had finished by the time i arrived. i had my own mini- 6 course meal, complete with individual dishes, and the prized crab pincer. would've preferred more chicken wings and tofu, but still, yum.

We also discovered that alden looks a lot like his dad:

And as is becoming a family tradition (at least among the boys), we had our 4 player agricola game (the largest we've had since asher went back). In some sort of early christmas present, Alden was able to beat all of us quite soundly with his unorthodox tactics - his favoured "triple well" strategy.

Even as i write, alden is probably sleeping in his bunk at viper company. take care dear cousin! we are praying for you.

Those who have seen my facebook - yes, my mother is a proud owner of an iPod Touch! Happy birthday in advance mum - love dad and son.

I guess this is just proof of how endearing Apple products can be. Kudos to the company for designing a hip and trendy product that is capable and easy-to-use. Mum still has a long way to go before you could coin her truely tech-savvy, but this is a first step that would otherwise have not been taken if not for the Apple iPod.

I shall still adamantly declare that the iPod is not the best mp3 player out there, and getting stuck with iTunes is quite nonsense. Especially in SG, where you just simply can't buy songs or movies over the store.

But it is pretty.

Apple still hasn't quite sold me on their mp3 players.. i think i now look for convergence, and the iPhone's camera and inability to multitask can't quite cut it, though i must say everything else about it is pretty attractive. I finally gave in after the months of waiting and got a new (old) phone. We shall see how that comes out over the next few months - will i like it as much as i did my N78? Nokia, don't fail me now...

In the meantime, go mum! Lead the charge for a generation of aunties.

CNY thus far

Day 0 started with reunion dinner @ uncle francis' place. we had red wine chicken noodles (which would be a recurring dish on day 1), popiah, and lo hei. And we played agricola, though josh had to leave early so it was just yang, alden and myself. Haha, i had a really bad game - made all the wrong assumptions about the market (reed and animals disappeared too quickly) and yang had a field day - end score, yang 43, alden 29, nick 28.

After sever lack of sleep, the morning of Day 1 found most of us cousins in church earlyyyy. But we had an awesome worship, though 'most everyone was a little stoned. Forgot a few cues and was not warmed up enough, but it was fun. And with andrew recording, the drums came out really nicely! can't wait to get my hands on the mix.

Then after that we went to ama's place for our annual red wine chicken noodles breakfast (now brunch - wait, deja vu?). Followed by visits to the usual people:

Oh did i mention, aunty kat and uncle chris are back! With baby bel - you can see aunty grace carrying her above. They have the other car, so it was awesome that i got to SLEEP IN THE BACK. Some others were not so lucky, see Josh below:

I had red wine chicken for every meal after that. What a day. None of them could beat ama's one though. ngoi recipe FTW.

Visited dad's side as well - this year the annual late night movie did not materialise - guess the cinemas were filled with valentinos. toyed with the idea of hanging out, but in the end, went home and just chilled. man, need to get a drum teacher to get me back in practicing shape.

Didn't take as many photos this time, will try and do something about that! In the meantime, alden has a better photo of josh, i'll let him see what he wants to do with it ;)

the house is a little bit quieter now, with one less (a-ngoi-ing) cousin. which is good, and bad. on one hand, it means i get to study a little more, on the flipside i do miss having the mushroom around.

and it also means one less player for agricola. just kidding.

Perth So Far

So, I went to the Singapore Airshow recently. Paid $21 for it and another 21 for the other person that came along with me. I can't say I enjoyed myself. I mean, the company I was with was the saving grace. Apart from that, the show was like being in a sardine-tin cooking in the microwave.

My favourite part of the Airshow wasn't the aerial display, because that involved 3 planes flying around doing barrel rolls. I kinda expected like 5 planes in a 5 finger formation, or something that would make me flip out. What I really liked about the airshow was the butterfly garden. Instant I walked in, I thought of Bao.

Cute. They also had chips hidden in bamboo. Not the edible kind though. I mean, that would be an insult to pandas around the world if they had fries inside bamboo.

Well, i guess it's just that now asher and alden are back, the purpose of the blog has kinda dwindled... plus we post photos on facebook so...

Anyhow, i finished work on friday, and felt like my hols just started today... before school begins tomorrow. haha - shall try to start on a good footing! God help!

This was after another awesome BS - just love the energy everyone in XYQ has now - let's keep it up guys! We had dinner at simei foodcourt and i squeezed some people back home. MAybe i really should count before i say okay next time eh ;)

Today I got my wart semi-removed...AND it's hurting..but it's alot better then in the first 2 hours from when I got it treated hahaha. Well at least it's visibly smaller(and uglier).

Well simply put, I have Hay Fever. Yes it feels awful before anyone asks, its like a blocked nose, that never goes away no matter how much you blow into tissue papers and what not.

So what do you do when you have it? You walk down to the beach and take a pretty picture, or a few pretty pictures:

Anyhow, aside from the cruise (too many pictures, see facebook pls!), we have been out and about, with loads of dinners - this is from a dinner on Tuesday night! It was a bit weird cause I was the only Koh in the sea of Lims and Hos. Oh well, guess Ho and Koh rhyme anyway. Oh yes, there was a Tan too...

Oh Noes! I have just found out that my Daddy is going for a business trip this friday for 4 weeks...*thank God he got a job ^.^* He took up a part time job of a driver and he is liking it so yay! Oh..please keep him in prayers as he will be driving to and around the mines and it can be very hazardous there so please pray for safety. Oh...and Asher has to work on Saturday and/or Sundays for the next 4 weeks...so that means I cant go to church as no one can fetch us there PLUS mum needs all the help she can get...after all, summer means more customers =D

Meanwhile...*oh my gosh this feels like a story*

Asher and Alden are having Exams *Yay?* and hopefully I can put the right things into my notes this time...Was late last friday *Blessing in Diguise I suppose* and as I waited at the bus interchange..this elderly guy asked me whether he could tell me a story. It was quite an interesting story but I only got to hear part of it as the bus was very noisy.

All I remember was: *Dot Pointed*
1) A rainbow appeared in his room one day
2) He heard a voice and that voice asked to talk to him about anything...He said talk about the Universe and him and that voice did so.
3)Got on the bus so tried to hear what he said. No Avail
4)Bus got quieter, he talked about how he met a guy who didn't believe in Christ.
5)Guy mocked him and said that if he met the elderly guy if he met him anywhere from point A to point B, he would accept Christ
6)Went home prayed bout it, next day came, got on the bus and the next bus stop the elderly guy met the guy who didn't believe in Christ
7) Thats all he managed to say before I had to leave.

Quite interesting these Australians... Oh..and I'm now playing Basketball with my friends everyday..only 30 mins though but hey, its still a start.

Today I saw something amazing.

I saw a person with arthritis run up and down the stairs of the church building, with no complaints about the pain any longer.

I saw a person who couldn't raise their arms above their shoulders and being unable to bend her knees, jump up and down and rasing her arms and hands and swinging them around and around, like as if it never happened.

Today, I saw God's glory poured out for all of us.

So I think to myself, what a creepy dream.

I'm chalk out of ideas to write here at the moment, so lets talk about dreams.
I just had the creepiest dream last night, it was so creepy, I woke up.

It was kind of stupid, I had "powers" to graviate stuff towards me and away from me. So ok, its like this, I was in this random house, and for some odd reason, it had big windows and a window paned roof, so it was see through. And so I decide to play with these new found "powers" (in my dream of course) and oh what do I see, an owl. Yes a very chubby, pretty much harmless owl. So I gravitate the animal to the window, it hits it, the owl gets startled. The 2nd time, it locates me and suddenly, its eyes turn red, kinda creepy, I don't know what the dream was made of but yeah. It starts clawing at the windows and gives like a death glare thingy. Then I notice the window is open but the owl doesn't fly in, it just flies there, clawing at nothing and glaring at me, with its creepy eyes, then I wake up wondering what on earth was that about. Creepy huh?

But there was a little revelation in that, which I had no idea how I got. God works strangely and defintely knows better than anyone and He probably gave me the revelation. Pretty much, the building I was in was like God's protection, even if I imagined there was a flaw or it was incomplete (the open window) nothing would be able to come in unless God lets it in, regardless of anything. God's power; undoubtedly stronger than all else.

If you ever feel like giving up your Faith in God for another, or perhaps trying to reach out to someone who is of another religion, remember this;
John 14:6 - Jesus Christ answered, "I am THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life, NO ONE comes to the Father except through Me." Other religions claim to be A way, A truth and A life, but He is THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life.

Some people who read this blog may be struggling with the idea of salvation, but let me tell you (whoever you might be), its not that hard. Its just simply, accepting the fact that Jesus died on the cross and by doing so paid for you sins for ALL eternity. Doesn't matter how badly you've screwed up, God has already forgiven you. Now all you need to do is accept Him into your life as your Lord and Saviour. Yes, to receive salvation is that easy, its like a gift, all you need to do is to receive it, willingly.

Well since I have nothing more to blog about, lets go over the basics.
1) We're all good, we're all doing well. Everyones pretty happy.
2) TISC (University application website) apparently hates me, doesn't want to load, so I have to apply through other various means. [I don't like telephone calls to people who wear fake smiles and talk in fake posh voices, seriously]
3) I just farted, like this is totally random but heck, I'm bored, its the holidays.

Well, what would your first thoughts have been?

First thought upon waking up; "hmm... it looks something like the end of the world..."

Second thought; "fires?"

Third thought; "zombie apocalyp- wait, no don't be stupid..."

Fourth thought; "....I could play a zombie apocalypse prank on the neighbours....."

Anyway, the last thought was an entertaining one, but I decided against it. Such a prank needs some half-decent makeup and planning, and preferably more than one 'zombie' (it definitely needs a horde). Also, old neighbours are liable to die of heart attack or something. Still, I don't think I'll ever get that chance again. =(

Today is Wednesday. A weekday. People are supposed to be in school or at work.

But not everyone.

For when the great Nike releases 500 places for the Human Race, who could afford to miss it? Ah, paperwork and good grades can wait, for who would miss the opportunity to spend, yes spend $20 to run a 10K race!

Sarcasm to mask my disappointment. i was at Wisma today, bright and early - 11am! Expecting the queue to maybe start during or after lunch when people have their lunch breaks and school ends, i thought it wouldn't much of a problem getting registered. I was so wrong.

Had a lift from mum and dad who dropped wes in town, and i walked from the back of wisma. seeing a queue, i thought "maybe this is where it starts" and i go to ask the guy at the end. And he tells me to get a queue number from the front first. So i begin to walk around the side and voila! the queue sure looked a lot longer out front than at the back. amused, i just had to take a photo - observe my dear anngoiings, the power of marketing.

I wasn't going to wait, so thankfully my parents were still around and i hitched a ride back again haha!

But good job Nike.

In other news, met up with Ben before he flies back to London!

Meeting with these guys, it's like we're still in army haha. Sure, the hair's slightly longer, and there's no book-in-blues, but somehow, everyone still looks and feels the same. As usual, Eug bore the brunt of the jokes.

Finally i got to watch Up! All in all it was pretty good - i liked it alot - though jon had to be a sour grape and spoil the whole thing by comparing it with older pixar films. But it was SQUIRREL good.

Then birthday parties galore! Recess week ushered in not one but two birthdays!! Kevin managed to borrow his brother's Guitar Hero so we had a nice "quiet" friday evening. Calvin unleashed his inner rock star - haha wish i had the video!

So one fine Sunday afternoon (after a blast at revival meeting) - we found ourselves eating and eating and eating. Yong tau fu followed by Ice Cream Chef, and you find 5 happy guys. Unfortunately, no photographic evidence of the yong tau fu, so here is the rest!

Some interesting sightings as well. We saw this chain of black vehicles lining up outside 168. Whoa. Like some gang or something. Plus we saw Mark and Beatrice Richmond at Ice Cream Chef! They didn't look too friendly though haha... Must be Sunday blues.

And kton revealed to us his new method of keeping fit - get a workout and get your adrenalin levels up looking out for cars - all at the same time!

Prayer Request?

Pray for me as I am going through some, lets just say, spiritual (can't physically see it) difficulty, again.

I need prayer for guidance as to where the foothold is, so that I can get rid of it, and its not just one, its several - Worst bit is that they're all different spirits, but one of them keeps coming back to annoy the hell out of me.

At first I thought it was a figment of my imagination at night, but when my dad told me he went through the same experience when he was sleeping in my room the other day, I knew it wasn't just my overactive imagination but something in the spirit.

So yeah, pray for me, and my family, we really need it right now. My exams are coming up, I haven't been sleeping well because I had to deal with all these spirits before I could even get some shut eye, even just that little bit of rest. My brother is sick and I'm falling sick as well, along with my dad and mum. Get a giant prayer circle, the more the better.

a quick summary of a beautiful weekend :)

we had a good time playing frisbee on Saturday morning! Though wish more people could've turned up. Who knew frisbee would be so taxing on the body? Just look at Jon Tan post-frisbee:

Lincoln on the other hand, prefers to take full control in the driver's seat - though the "car's" actual... erm... ability is questionable.

Then there are those crazy fellas who believe in traditional means of transport. ie. on your two kah. Met Kev for a good one-hour run. YES. ONE hour. Sheesh - i really dunno how i'd run for that long if he wasn't with me! (Ronald, no laughing)

Day started out quite bad cos Alden twas sick and thus....was NEARLY late for school....didn't get time to bathe *opps*...Had to rush, reached the bus stop in time for the bus...

First Period: Maths
Went in the room was warming up cos of the heater...sat down on my chair...voila! The chair was cold...as in really really cold...couldnt focus for first 5 mins as was thinking bout the cold seat....sadly that was the time the teacher was teaching...warmed up after around 5 mins of me sitting but yeah...My butt was getting numb by then....

Second Period: Specialist Math
Teacher was REALLY early in comparison to what he normally comes at....Teacher unlock the door, pulled it open, you enter the room and you think you teleported from Australia's desert to Antartica....Sat down on my chair...voila again! The chair was even COLDER....had no choice but to sit and after round 10 mins...my butt was totally numb...poked my butt with my pen...couldnt feel it....oh well
Rest of the day was normal

End of school:
Dad fetched me to go get new earphones *Yay!* then to my shop to help my mum *Awwww....* but all in all a good time there....as there was nothing to do cept wash the machine...=D*Laziness FTW*

After leaving the shop went for dinner which was quite a funny thing as my mum realised halfway through her meal that there was dinner at Cell later on that night....I tried not to laugh...and SUCCEEDED!
Youth was good...and after youth...had a tetanus jab...wasnt half as bad as I thought...until the next day

The Next Day AKA Saturday:
Everything my Mum said came true
My arm felt REALLY heavy
My arm was numb

Moral: Always listen to mum. *Does that make me a very immoral person?*

Spent the whole day rubbing my arm while using the com

josh and i were out yesterday, helping some friends from china shop for laptops. tsk - girls, can't wait! they better not regret their laptops lol.

anyHOW. i found out something, that questioned my tech-savviness. for quite some time now i've been wondering why my laptop memory card reader won't work. so while they were browsing i stole the chance to ask the shop assistant, and she told me perhaps to try other memory cards, since it seemed everything was working fine.

so i got home and happily inserted a different memory card. and then i found out, to my utter embarassment, that in previous occasions i did not push the memory card in fully. so there was a springy response, a click, and it worked.

hoping to feel less embarassed i inserted the older memory card in question, and voila, it worked.

oops.

well, you learn something new everyday.

I haven't blogged in a while. For good measure. Had the craziest friday recently. Seriously. The 17th July. Anyway, here are the stooges.

It wasn't all smiles at 11am.

We go up to Beat Merchants and set-up. Day before, I get told by Ernie the songs and to learn them. Great right? Anyway, back to 11am.

Justin (other guy in red in the middle) says he's got a sore throat. Strike 1.
Nick (chinese dude on the right) says he's not really a bassist. Strike 2.
The whole band couldn't really come together. Strike 3.

Needless to say, I was pretty upset at what seemed like a wasted day. So after 3 hours, we went down to SP @ Dover. Taxi fare, everything.

I've met Justin once before in my life, Enrico (drummer, Eurasian dude) once in my life and I've never met Nick before. Justin has never met Enrico and Nick before and Enrico has never met Justin, myself and its his first time seeing Nick. Great. Strike 4.

We get to the Auditorium after walking like what seemed like a mile, lugging all the equipment.

We walk into the the place and all we could hear were metal bands. Some good metal bands too, Strike 5.
Then they told us that our set would be at 940pm, it was only 3pm. Strike 6.

I think for a 5-hour old band, we were pretty daring to play a competition. Of course, its not a dare if you didn't know about it beforehand. I just wanted the ground to swallow me whole and spit me out at home.

Eventually we played. Surprisingly, we got good reviews from the friends that came to watch us. I was skeptic because I thought it sounded like crap. Anyway, so we wait for the results.

And now, I'm $60 richer. Yes.

Moral of the story? 5-hour bands go somewhere baby.

oh dear, the holidays are sloowly but surely coming to an end. just look at Jay's pained expression.
it has been a pretty fruitful holiday though, i'd say, despite the absence of a job - i've made quite a lot of friends! and had the opportunity to meet up with old friends, though some not under the best of circumstances.

also, thanks to ms chang's generosity, i've had the kang for about 2 weeks now, been putting it to good use, though probably not as much as she would've!
I can proudly say that i know singaporean roads slightly better now though. it was funny though cause the kang actually broke down, (ok technically not broke down - did i blog about this?) and when i picked it up with dad, i followed his car and got lost when we got seperated by a traffik light.

and i've fallen sick only once so far this vacation! just two days ago. i think it was just lack of sleep plus sentosa - recovered more or less in the next day, but missed out a meeting (which i have to make up with today) and dwayne's play. however, i did get to mingle with the one singaporean cousin i don't see as often!

audrey audrey. my, she devours books. seriously. reminds me of myself when i was younger. i hope she doesn't grow up wearing specs too though!

i mean, people thank God for giving them jobs, saving their lives etc... but how many people thank God for LA?

haha.

i am now one tooth less-wise (wiserless?). the doc (dent?) said it was too big he had to break it into like, 4 or 5 pieces - so i couldn't take the tooth back :( plus what was supposed to be 2 teeth in 45 mins turned out to be 1 tooth in 1hr 15 mins. yeah. major jawache!!

it was also one of those moments where you hear and feel a lot of things happening in your mouth (i can still hear the zing of the instruments on the tooth), and you're really glad you don't know exactly what's happening. haha! ignorance is bliss huh...

the worst and absolutely most terrible part is the pain.

the pain of not being able to eat everything.

nevermind - maybe i'll lose weight!

i must say, and i am blatantly publicizing camp here, but if you get the chance, really do go for family camp. it's really awesome! other than the great messages and services (which should be the main reason you go), there's lots of things to enjoy. Good fun with friends, new foods, shopping (though i only bought a belt), swimming (see aaron's blog) and so on! i remember jon tan saying he felt like a kid again. HAHA!
so reverse ageing by going family camp!

And just to top it off (post-camp), a beautiful sunset while i was jogging. yes, i am going for an SAF holiday in a week's time. prayer appreciated! must get silver for ippt lol, then i can consider buying an ipod touch for tap tap revenge! HAHA

Alas, the land of puffins, whales, volcanoes, waterfalls and ice: iceland. Good lamb and good fish, though like all scandinavian countries, the price of food isn't cheap. Drove on the left, had a dip in the hot spring swimming pools and had great tasting charr, monkfish, cod, minke whale and lamb! Finally, mineral water!!!!

Everton lost the FA cup final to Chelsea. Okay, okay, moving past the idea that Frank Lampard isn't human, and that his legs are like nuclear weapons, watching the FA cup final made me laugh.

I know its mean, but I couldnt not find it funny to watch the pasty white British crowd slowly burn in the 41 degree heat.

The lesson? Having skin pigmentation rocks, and I thank you Lord for our skin pigmentation. No burns here baby.

so i'm back! tons of photos to upload, loads of stories to tell (though half have been forgotten - maybe we should move to livejournal, i think that isn't blocked in China).

i must say beijing has been an eye-opener! seriously - the amount of work they've done for the olympics really shows. i would say the place is quite developed - definitely exceeded my expectations. though the same can't be said in the more rural areas ;)

but yes. lots of good lessons, good friends, good weather, too much food, a little bit of drink, and scorpion. yum.

thanks to all who have been praying, really thank God that we didn't get quarantined, else i'd have to miss family camp and maybe pastor daph would have to play drums. LOL.
